New York State Map with Cities

Here is the New York map with cities, counties and information on the state.

New Mexico is situated in the south western parts of the United States of America. It is said to be one of the Mountain States. It is the thirty sixty most populated state plus sixth in being the state with least dense population. It is fifth largest state in U.S. Its capital is Santa Fe and Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico.

For centuries in New Mexico Native Americans have been residing. It has the maximum per cent of Hispanics among the all the 50 states of United States. Also it has been inhabited by Spanish people and Latin America, who have recently immigrated. New Mexico is said to be 2nd in the Native American percentage following Alaska and 5th in the total figure of Native Americans.  Mostly Pueblo and Navajo tribes have occupied the New Mexico state thereby it has exclusive Native American and Hispanic cultures. New Mexico flag has red and gold colors which denote Spain. It also has a symbol i.e. Zia symbol which symbolizes for sun as per the Native Americans.

New Mexico consists of thirty three counties. In 1852 ten counties were created. FIPS code i.e. Federal Information Processing Standard code used to identify counties and states are given an entry. Code for New Mexico is thirty five.  Every county code when joined with state code would we noted down as 35xxx. This Federal Processing Standard code for every county is linked the census figures for the particular county.

It is bordered by Texas in south, Chihuahua and Sonora states of Mexico in west. In east it is bordered by Oklahoma and all the states i.e. Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico are together in the north western side of New Mexico. The total land area of the state is 314,460 kilometers. Some of the important rivers are Canadian, San Juan, Gila, Pecos and Rio Grande. River Rio Grande is said to be the 4th longest in United States.

Roads in New Mexico are  maintained properly and driving is always a pleasure here.  But then the road conditions here can be unpredictable, so watch out for directions and warnings.   The speed limits on interstate driving are 75 miles per hour, but in urban and mountaineous areas, the speed limit an reduce to 65 miles per hour.

Rural speed limits are 45 to 75 miles per hour in multilane and state highways.  The speed limits for two-lane rural high ways are 45 to 65 miles per hour. The speed limit for urban roads can vary from as less as 15 miles per hour to even 55 miles per hour.

There can be trouble while driving through the roads of New Mexico in winter months, where the mountainous areas of the southwestern region and northern half of the state are snow-prone with snow storms raging at top speed.  There are dust storms too and spring winds which can affect tall vehicles.
Drunk driving cases, though once severe, has reduced in New Mexico to some extent thanks to strict law enforcements and government initiatives.  One has to drive carefully because cattle, sheep and elk are seen in many cases, crossing the road.

New Jersey - Counties Map, Cities, State Map

Here is the map of New Jersey counties, cities and information about the state.

New Jersey is located in the north eastern, in the mid Atlantic parts of U.S. Its border to the north and east is New York State, flanked by the Atlantic Ocean to the south and southeast. It is bordered by Delaware in southwest and Pennsylvania to the west. It is fourth largest state in U.S. New Jersey is the eleventh most populated state. It is surrounded by metro cities like Philadelphia and New York and is said to be the 3rd wealthiest as per the median household income report in 2009-2010. Its capital is Trenton and Newark is its largest city.

Earlier New Jersey was occupied by Native Americans for more than two thousand eight hundred years. Some like Lenape a historical tribe resided by the coast. In New Jersey many wars have taken place in the American revolutionary war.

New Jersey has twenty one counties out of which 9 counties are said to be in the wealthiest hundred. Union County is the newest County that was created in 1857. Only in New Jersey State, the county officers are termed as ‘Freeholders’. They govern every county as a section of its board of the selected Freeholders.  There is a referendum to determine the number of freeholders in every county. Each must have 3, 5, 7 or 9 associates. The official and legal duties can be done by the selected freeholders or it can be divided into divisions of government as per the county features. In some sixteen counties the board carries out both the legal and official duties as per the payment basis.

Each person i.e. freeholder is given responsibilities for a section or number of sections. In counties like Mercer, Hudson, Essex, Atlantic and Bergen they elect the county official directly. This official carries out the duties whereas the board of selected freeholders holds on to the legal roles. Counties that do not have such officials hire a county supervisor or county manager to carry out every day duties.
